8: James nachtwey

James Nachtwey grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from Dartmouth College, where he studied art history . Images from the Vietnam War and the American civil rights movement had a powerful effect on him and were instrumental in his decision to become a photographer.
In 1976 Nachtwey started work as a newspaper photographer in New Mexico. In 1980 he moved to New York to begin a career as a freelance magazine photographer.
Nachtwey has devoted himself to documenting wars, conflicts, and critical social issues. He has worked on  photographic essays in El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Lebanon, the West Bank and Gaza, Israel, Indonesia, Thailand, India, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, the Philippines, South Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Rwanda, South Africa, Russia, Bosnia, Chechnya, Kosovo, Romania, Brazil, and the United States.
Nachtwey has been a contract photographer with Time magazine since 1984. In 2001, he became one of the founding members of the photo agency VII. He has held many solo exhibitions around the world.
I l have not known of james s work long but since i have known him his images are impossible to forget , In  a world were the media are normally one sided his work tips the balance by showing both sides or the side that is not always shown his images are striking and powerful yet theres a sentiment to them that not many  photo journalists can show .He has gone above and beyond to pursue his dream and its shows in the images he captures . i  admire and respect him and he is one of my favorite photographers top three anyway and i dont reckon that will change as his images are relevent to the last.

9 : the black eyed peas where is the love music video

The Black eyed peas formed in 1995 in los angeles it includes rappers will.i.am,apl.de.ap,taboo and the singer fergie although they never broke the us in the start up years in 2003 they broke the uk with there new album elephunk and there worldwide hit single where is the love it lasted ix weeks at number one in the uk where it became the biggest selling single of 2003
Where is the love is a anti war anthem turned into pop with its catchy baseline and heart felt chorus its still well known i heard it first in the chart when it was first released when i was ten and at the time i remember thinking it was different to everything i knew it wasnt a song about love or heartbreak about naked women or expensive obects and lifestyles not even about gangstas but if you didnt like the song you would the video  it simply consists of a stylized question mark black background and a crudely drawn white box around a red question mark that askes the question why or where is the love ? the video follows them as they transfer the images on to walls and vehicles dressed in black and pursed by the police while they try to spread the message a good metaphore for  lack of freedom of speech and for repression .This is still one of my favorite songs and although the video is simple in its ways i think the message is clear and honest and you cant beat that .

10: Can you hear me by Fawaz Alolaiwat

Fawaz Alolaiwat Is a graphic designer and illustrator born September the fourth 1977 and has lived in the small island of Bahrain in the Arabian Gulf all of his life. he has many hobbies which include photography ,visual artist, fiction writer and being a techno  dj,He is a flamboyant character outspoken in his ways he has admitted a love of colours and textures one of his well known quotes’ is “Evert hobby of mine has a dream of  its own “ .  He designs intricate  designs full of emotion and power his designs are often inlayed with a hidden message sometimes about his personal views on war especially the war in the middle east .
I found Alolaiwat while searching for artists to research for an old school project back when I was fourteen I remember it was so different to everything else I found It wasn’t a bowl of fruit or vase of flowers it had emotion vivid colours and a emotion I hadn’t seen in any images at that time. I unfortunately forgot the pronunciation of his name and four years he was lost to me until recently again by chance I found him again, yet I never forgot the direct blunt emotion of it .its a piece about the war in the middle east about the pain and anguish of any war the anger against it and the destruction of it .Created on Photoshop and illustrator using layer FX and line art Every time I look at it part of me understands the pain and hurt in it more than I ever could reading an article about it
